The built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi card on our Microsoft Windows XP laptop can only detect 7 networks. One network is at the top of the list, the last 6 are shown above. Notice how the networks “Sasha”, “Henry” and “aaron” are low.

Sharing BearExtender with HotSpot Mode


With HotSpot Mode and a compatible computer setup (see requirements below), you can share BearExtender PC's stronger signal with other nearby Wi-Fi devices, including other computers and even tablets and smartphones. 

This turns your computer with BearExtender PC into a HotSpot.

Windows requirements and Setting up HotSpot Mode

  1. HotSpot mode requires Windows 7 or Windows 8. Your internal Wi-Fi card must also be functioning.
  2. Download Connectify Lite software from Connectify.me

Example HotSpot


HotSpot mode creates a new shared connection that allows other Wi-Fi devices to take advantage of BearExtender's stronger signal. 

In this example below, BearExtender is picking up a Wi-Fi signal from a public Wi-Fi tower that the tablet and cell phone cannot detect. In HotSpot mode, the BearExtender shares this connection as a new Wi-Fi signal that the table and cell phone can detect and use.
