Windows 10 and Mac OS El Capitan 10.11 Compatibility Information

Posted by BearExtender Staff on

For our PC products BearExtender PC and BearExtender Outdoor for PC, we now have Windows 10 updates available for download. Visit our support page and select your product to be taken to the respective download page.

For BearExtender Turbo we expect a El Capitan compatible beta update by December 2015 (update 12/9/2015, our 10.11 Turbo update can now be downloaded from the Turbo Support page).

For BearExtender Edge owners, the product is compatible with both Windows 10 and Mac OS El Capitan out of box with no update needed.

For users of our legacy Mac USB products including BearExtender original, Mini, and 1200 for Mac, there will be no beta application or support for Mac OS 10.11 El Capitan which is due to launch in September 2015. Mac users who update from a previous version of Mac OS may no longer be able to use their BearExtender product on that Mac. The reason is not because we just don't want to, but rather our programmers can do all but update the proprietary kernel extension which is done by the chipset maker. Because the chipset maker has discontinued the chip, a compatible extension will not be released despite our attempts to negotiate.

BearExtender legacy Mac USB products can however now be used on Microsoft Windows computers. To add additional life to your product, our new PC drivers on our BearExtender PC support page allow our legacy Mac USB products to be used on PCs. This is something our programmers were able to control, and we have done so to add new life and worth to your older BearExtender products. We thank you for supporting BearExtender and if you have any questions or concerns, please visit our support page for phone and email contact information.
